Group critical illness

Why choose group critical illness?

The financial repercussions of critical illness can be devastating. When it happens to a wage earner in the household, there may be a long-term loss of earnings. But no matter who it happens to, there could be specialised treatments or rehabilitation to pay for. It might be necessary to adapt the home, the car, or to pay for nursing care.

Covering your employees for group critical illness will help relieve them of some financial worries at a highly stressful time, allowing them to concentrate on their recovery. It also emphasises your position as a caring employer and adds something to your benefits package that your employees will really value.

The benefits for you

  • Contributions are normally an allowable business expense – so you don’t have to pay tax on them.
  • We offer flexible payment options.
  • There’s a free cover limit which will reduce the amount of medical evidence we need and the inconvenience to your employees.
  • You'll have direct access to our RED ARC independent care advisory service.
  • We provide automatic child’s cover and optional spouse’s cover.

The benefits for your employees

  • We offer cover for up to 24 conditions.
  • They can use the lump sum payment in whatever way they want.
  • They can access RED ARC’s independent care advisory service for help and support in coping with their illness.

You can also choose to include total and permanent disability cover. This means that we'll pay out a lump sum to an employee if they become totally and permanently disabled due to illness or injury. We'll pay out for a valid claim if the employee meets our policy definition and survives for at least 26 weeks from date of diagnosis. This is provided at an extra cost and isn't available for any children, spouses or partners covered.
